Our story

Our story

The NYC LGBTQS Chamber of Commerce was founded in 2009 by a small group of LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs who were tired of navigating the city's business landscape alone. They believed that a chamber built specifically for their community — one that understood the unique challenges and strengths of LGBTQ+-owned businesses — could change what was possible for every member.

What started as monthly meetups in a borrowed conference room has grown into a 500-member organization with a full-time staff, a robust grant program, and a seat at the table in City Hall. We've helped launch hundreds of businesses, fought for policies that protect our community, and built a network that shows up when it matters.

Today, the Chamber is one of the most active LGBTQ+ business organizations in the country. But our mission hasn't changed: to make sure every LGBTQ+ entrepreneur in New York City has the community, resources, and advocacy they need to thrive.

Our mission

Our mission

To advance the economic power of LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs and small business owners in New York City through community, advocacy, and access to resources.

Inclusion

We build spaces where every LGBTQ+ identity is seen, respected, and celebrated — in our events, our leadership, and our advocacy.

Equity

We work to dismantle the systemic barriers that limit LGBTQ+ business owners, and we direct resources to those who need them most.

Community

We believe business is personal. The relationships built through the Chamber are as valuable as any grant or workshop we offer.

Action

We don't just talk about change — we show up, organize, and push for the policies and investments that move our community forward.
